…to distract from the lack of more energetic cycling content.
I loved the look of these bars against the sky and buildings.
Spring is in full swing at our farmers’ markets. Asparagus! I grilled some fat spears. Even Mr. Meat ‘n’ Taters was moved to eat a few.
Rhubarb! Before the season ends, I have to make Melissa Clark’s crumb cake. For now, I’ll boil it briefly, strain and sweeten lightly – the resulting pink syrup is delicious in a glass of sparkling water.
This is not the best supermarket in my neighborhood, but it’s the only one that lets me wheel Maggie in and park her next to the shopping carts.
Mr. Meat ‘n’ Taters isn’t feline is he? I only ask because some guys around here love their greens, but the Maine Coons are appalled by the concept.
Regarding discrimination against Maggie (!), would it do any good to point out that she’s smaller than most strollers, and an actual shopping cart herself? This may not work in NYC, but, done with great good humor, you might get away with it.
I tend not to ask, and have yet to be rebuffed when offering this cheery explanation, but I admit to having not pushed things where I suspect the issue might get problematic.
Love these photos!
Thanks for commenting, Brommie! Actually, my feline overlords require a fresh pot of wheatgrass each week. They don’t need it, but seem to love it.
The markets I visit most often are so crowded that I wouldn’t want to wrangle even a Maggie-sized shopping cart. Besides, she has Eazy Wheels but no rack, and doesn’t feel completely steady when rolled part-folded. I’m lucky to be minutes away from food shopping, so I can drop Maggie off at home and run to the store.
In addition to inside parking, this market is on a side street just off a bike path exit – a convenient stop on the ride home. And doesn’t Maggie look pretty sitting there?
